As for Evie, well, I had nothing against her, but she faded into the background of the first two Wallflowers novels - the most wallflowery of the wallflowers, as it were. Vincent in the earlier books, but after his abduction of Lillian at the end of It Happened One Autumn, I really wasn’t sure how I felt about a kidnapper and potential rapist serving as the hero of the novel.
